Ho, ho, no! It’s December!
Can you believe that it’s December??? I sure can’t! My three little munchkins are already chomping at the bit for Santa to arrive with this load of goodies for them. Hubby and I are perplexed about how to handle the economic crunch and its relations to our gift buying power - but hopefully our plans will make our crew happy enough.
The holidays are going to be hard since we’re so far away from our family and friends for the first time.
To truly make this Christmas meaningful, we’ve pledged to take advantage of as many holiday events as possible - especially the FREE ones. It will be PAINFUL for hubby and me as we have both developed a strong dislike of crowds. But, we’re going to do it for the kids. (Our crew is still talking about our trip to the pumpkin patch/festival that just about put hubby and me in the hospital from the stress of dealing with the huge crowd.)
This week we plan to go the Holiday Splendor event at the Ringling Museum on Thursday as well as the St. Armand’s Lights On ceremony on Friday. Then on Saturday we plan to go to the event in Bradenton where they truck in snow - that’s right - snow in Florida!!!
There are other activities that we plan to go to over the next few weeks as well.
Plus, the kids and I have been making a silly Christmas craft each evening - we’ve made paper raindrop ornaments and Santa Faces out of paper plates with cotton ball beards so far. They have really enjoyed working on them and are proud of the results too.
I hope that we are creating Christmas memories that our children will remember and share with their children and grandchildren. And that these memories will be powerful enough to get them to take their kids out to crowded events too.
