Decisions revisited - courtesy of Will Smith
I’m revisiting my post from the other day concerning the impact of even the smallest decisions that we make. That’s because I read an interview of the actor Will Smith yesterday where he talks at length about the very same thing.
A recent movie project of his focuses on the “domino effect” of tiny decisions. Mr. Smith said that he is just really in a “thoughtful” mode these days. He says that he grips the handrails of staircases tightly as he navigates the staircases. As he put it, “One small stupid decision can cost you your life.”
It is really incomprehensible sometimes how much our decisions matter… people have either survived or perished in disasters such as 9/11 or the sinking of the Titanic based on what are really tiny decisions — several people weren’t in the Twin Towers on 9/11 because they decided to walk their child into his/her classroom on the first day of school.
Let’s face it - in the grand scheme of all that we face, decisions such as deciding to walk our kids into their school on a certain day isn’t really a huge decision, is it?
I’m not so sure…
