I am bummed that today is the last day of my kids’ holiday break from school. It’s been nice to have them home - plus, no sitting in the car pickup line each afternoon, no packing up lunches for them to take to school, and no supervision of homework amid their grumblings. And, we’ve actually gotten to sleep in a little.

Even Sofie, who adores school, isn’t happy that her holiday break is coming to an end. She did a very dramatic “NOOOOO” with her hand raised in the air when we asked her if she was excited about returning to school.

I plan to wrap things up in style — we’re going to the beach this morning and then we’ll make some cookies this afternoon. It it warms up enough, we might even go to the neighborhood pool for a swim late today.

Ian is not going to be happy about school starting back up either - he loves trying to keep up with his siblings in whatever it is they are doing. It’s probably going to be a rough couple of weeks for all of us as we struggle to get back in the swing of things.
