The end of an era
The end of an era has come… Ian has stopped taking naps. SIGH and MOAN and a small tear from me…
He has not napped the past three days. I am trying to look at the positive side of things… he napped far longer than my older two children did (they stopped at 18 months and about 2 years) and he has been sleeping in later in the mornings too. His early bird brother has too - yeah! Now my munchkins aren’t waking up until at least 6:30! Of course, Sofie is still the late sleeper - sometimes sleeping past 8:00 if we don’t have school or somewhere to be.
Ian is truly a unique child - he used to come up and ask to take a nap. It was amazing and shocking. A child asking to take a nap. He actually asked to take a nap yesterday around 11:45. So, we gathered up his “buddies” (stuffed animals and blanket) and headed for his room. He stayed in his crib for about 5 minutes before I heard him jabbering over the monitor. After about 15 minutes of happy jabbering, he started calling for me. I went in his room and he said, “I had a good nap.” I replied, “Ian, you did not take a nap.” He giggled and said, “Don’t want to take a nap.”
So there you have it. Probably no more naps.
Thankfully, he seems to be handling the transition without too much fussiness. He does get sleepy and a bit clingy early in the evening now. Last night he dozed off for a few minutes in Tim’s recliner - it was too cute.
I guess my “baby” is growing up.
