Sweatin’ with the birdies
This morning I hopped on our exercise bike and pedaled like mad for 20 minutes. We have our bike stationed at a large window overlooking the lake. It was a beautiful morning - fabulous sunshine and pretty clouds floating by. The wildlife kept me company as I bopped along to some of favorite tunes.
Several ducks flew by and seemed to salute my efforts.
A snow egret stomped by, making sure he lifted his black legs out of the water to show off his yellow “shoes”. (their legs are totally black, but their feet are yellow and it looks like they are wearing yellow shoes)
A large white ibis waded around right in front of me and then lunged forward. His long beak emerged from the water holding a tiny squirming fish. He gulped it down and then trudged away.
On the other side of the lake the 2 gigantic sandhill cranes appeared. They suddenly began jumping in the air and flapping their wings - taking turns in their famous dance of love. I had not seen this behavior before, so it kept me pumped up as I finished my workout.
I love being able to watch these magnificent creatures every day!
